Cool to hear Ed Carter, Bobby Figueroa will be joining Al for the shows. A couple of ol' Beach Boy legendary touring dinosaurs right there! Also joining is Probyn Gregory from Brian's band and Debbie Shair...... Who is Debbie Shair? Anybody? Should be a neat little show Al and the gang put on. He should seriously make a DVD and make it available via his website. Debbie has played with Al and Brian in the past. I think I read somewhere that she is married to Darian? Does anyone know if that is true?

Debbie is both keyboard player for Heart when they tour and Darian's significant other (but not wife as far as I know). She's done a couple of tours with Brian too.

I'd love to a see a concert film or BBs F&F live CD vol2 from this tour since they aren't playing in my neck of the woods. The timing overlapping with the 60th could hopefully create more interest and give the extra incentive for that kind of release.
It would be cool if David Marks or Dean Torrence (who often guest with Al) make some appearances.
On a side but related note, it's interesting to see that both Mike (with Bruce), Brian (with Blondie & Al), and Al all have seperate, unique tours announced for this year, that either blatantly or inadvertently 'cash in' or recognize the anniversary, but David Marks has no public shows listed for 2022, and as far as I can see, Dean's only advertised upcoming show is his 'J&D Beach Party' show playing on the Maltshop Memories cruise. Dean and David Marks share a backing band --- The Surf City Allstars --- which is the direct continuation of J&D's band, many of whom also played with the BBs (Chris Farmer, Phil Bardowell, Probyn, etc)
I'm surprised that, at least at the moment, David and Dean don't have any major shows announced to also make use of the anniversary. I hope we get to see those guys, David in particular, be able to celebrate that milestone.
I still assume that some kind of reunion will take place, given Al and IconicArtists' respective statements. Be it a one-off show, a couple of dates, or even guest appearances from core members during the official Beach Boys (Mike & Bruce) tour, like how Al joined for the 2011 Reagan tribute, or how David has circa 14-15
Anyway, its such an exciting to be a fan with three (and maybe more if David or Dean announce anything?) tours to celebrate the huge milestone.
for those interested:
Dean's very well produced new Concert promo.
Dean-O is still doin his thing strummin' his surf green strat and singing harmonies. Catch him singing the top falsetto parts on USA, Sloop, and Rhonda!!! What a cool set too--- dipping into other "Beach" music like reggae and Eagles, (Who members of the Allstars have also backed up) Those versions of Misirlou and Wipe Out were BITCHIN!!!
Dean and David performing together with the SurfCityAllstars this past summer.
Everyone argues over the qualities of Mike & Bruce 'vs' Brian & Al , but neglect to mention the other 'hottest' surf duo David & Dean!! Their band (who I've seen in concert and know personally) is easily as good as Brian and Mike's respectively, being made up of all J&D/BB/BW band members. This clip features crystal clear sound of David's guitar playing, being filmed so close to his monitor, you can really hear his playing. He and Dean are both still in good voice. Their show has a great chemistry and energy that doesn't get the same acclaim or attention as Mike, Al, or Brian's bands, but I wish it did cause they're great! Two unsung heroes of California Music playing together. You hear the signature surf guitar of The BBs coming straight from David Marks, and the AUTHENTIC California Falsetto which Dean Torrence still has retained. Quite a combo.

Caught Dean & Dave this summer at Williamsport. Totally agree. Great show & a wonderful night.

Just saw that Al’s show at the Keswick Theater in Pennsylvania has been canceled.

The March 5th Warner Theatre show in Torrington, CT has also been cancelled. Wilson Phillips is now performing at "Miami Beach Live!" in Florida on that date.

Hard to see beyond the obvious... apparently the 1300 seat Keswick sold about 300 tickets.

Hard to see beyond the obvious... apparently the 1300 seat Keswick sold about 300 tickets. Yep. The 600 seat Colonial Theater is only a half hour away. A lot of very respected artists play there every year: Al Stewart, Suzanne Vega, John Lodge, The Zombies, Mike Nesmith, etc. It would have been a great venue … with a little proper promotion. Someone (Al?) gave Al bad advice. Very disappointing.

No changes here for the show in Southern California at San Juan Capistrano as far as I can tell. When a beach boy can't sell out a small house in the landscape that they mythologized then you know you're in trouble. So no ultimate tragedy there so far

Can be many factors in poor ticket sales. There didn't seem to be a lot of time with these shows in terms of promoting. How are they promoting to people that are NOT Beach Boys fans? Do they still put posters up and advertise that way? Like a lot of events now, they seem to come and go and you only find out about them later. People having financial hardships need 6 to 12 months sometimes to save for a ticket, travel, accommodation if they need for a night out. There's still a pandemic. People are also finding more of their entertainment 'indoors' in their own spaces too than going to a show. The music industry is pretty crippled to what it once was. It's Al Jardine, original BB member, but how many people know who he is and how many really care? Most people don't go to see The Beach Boys now to see the original members, they go to hear the music they know, so seeing Al is really catering to the die hards or those who appreciate the who's who of music. I don't see 'Wilson Philips' in the advertising being a big draw card these days either... Yet, I'm sure it would be a neat show, I'd love to see it! You can see why initially Al wanted to use the words 'Beach Boys' in his advertising, because it sums up a chunk of his show, and those two words together are worth 'gold', and doesn't Mike Love know it! Without them, it makes it an even harder sell for Al to the average punter.

So what shows are left? As I said I don't believe the San Juan Capistrano show is affected. This can't have too much to do with covid because restrictions for everything are being lifted on a daily basis -- so maybe anxiety and confusion and fear still linger --and it must have to do with just promotion or interest and marketing? quote author=" Rick Bartlett" source="/post/50697/thread" timestamp="1645881924"]Yikes! It's a great shame if Al is struggling to sell tickets as I'm sure it will be a great show.
The whole idea of the tour seemed a bit odd, though. Surely one of the major reasons for all of the late 90s lawsuits was the fact that Al and the Wilson sisters weren't going to sell many tickets without The Beach Boys as a brand name.

Looks like a pretty good setlist. I would have liked to see them play a couple more Wilson Phillips or Wilsons songs. I wish they were playing near Cincinnati, I would love to see this show.

Does anyone know for sure if the show in San Juan Capistrano this month is going to be this larger family and friends group or just a minimal group of Al and his son and another performer?

Yes thanks Rick and of course I should have just checked that myself but I guess I more or less wanted to talk about it rather than to know. I would hope that I will have some surprises. Why not just give Dave a call and say Dave jump on the 5 freeway and come on down let's do a show together we have enough to supply our own energy needs quote author=" Rick Bartlett" source="/post/50873/thread" timestamp="1646349102"] Does anyone know for sure if the show in San Juan Capistrano this month is going to be this larger family and friends group or just a minimal group of Al and his son and another performer? Why I would love to see this show and I wonder how the one next week with the smaller company is going to go. So funny that the cheering of the crowd through them off. That's so adorable..
What a great idea to pull out the songs like this and I wish all of the Beach Boys together would be doing these intimate shows
