Agreed, if stuff could be moved I would be most grateful. I've backed up most of my stuff, but apparently it's not safe on Facebook either (they shadow-deleted two of my Notes for some reason) so having that extra copy on-hand would be nice.

I still cant believe that nonsense. There was absolutely no reason to delete the whole forum at the drop of a hat like that. I dont care what kind of insipid SS/PS drama went on. If it were a matter of needing new mods, Im sure someone would have been happy to volunteer at least on a temporary basis. Glad to know all my album reviews, general music discussions, etc are gone forever.  |

Im trying to stay out of whatever the hell drama went down, but if it's at all related to the forum going down then I have to admit Im more than a little curious. But surely whatever it may have been, this was a huge overreaction. Frankly, if Anderson ever shows up in any other Beach Boys forums he's got quite a lot of explaining to do. |

I believe the site owner (Andersson) just got tired of running the forum, with so much stuff going on.
Even though I'm very sad about the forum having got deleted, I don't think there's any reason to be suspicious about it. It's his site after all, and to keep the forum or not is all his decision.

I still think it's a lousy thing to do. There's an implicit trust between the posters and admin that the site will be maintained to the best of their abilities. If he didnt want the responsibility anymore he could and should have said so and waited a respectful amount of time for someone else to step up or at least let us back up all our posts. I spent hours over the course of a year and a half posting on PSF vigorously because I wanted it to succeed. If I had known it was all just going to be deleted on a whim I never would have bothered at all. I put a lot of thought and effort into the ~1700 posts I wrote there, and several of them I would have made an effort to backup if I had known what was about to happen. I met a great friend and pen pal on that forum and now our first correspondences are gone. At least forging a bond with him means the whole experience wasn't all in vain. I'll get over it, but right now while the shock is still fresh I think I'm entitled to be angry. |

Hi all,
A little disappointing that PSF was deleted as I was looking forward to doing some catching up on recent threads after a busy couple of months, in particular those pertaining to the copyright extension releases; I am sure there would have been some cool details to read about in there...however I guess there are more important things to concern ourselves with.
Happy holidays and look forward to some interesting, robust and mature discussion on here as well as over at SS during 2019. A shame we can't do it all in one place like the old days because I enjoy diversity of opinion until it gets personal and inflammatory.

It seems to me like a crazy, immature act to just delete a whole Forum. People spent a lot of time uploading articles, photos etc. Can you blame them if they don't want to do it all again?
I was on PSF yesterday morning and there was no hint of what was to come. Surprised to say the lease.

There are issues, especially if not done properly and followed to the letter. When I was Admin there, there were things that I could not do, but Rob could as Owner. There are stories about it on the support board.

Yeah, it's crazy that the whole place just disappears, just days after the change in moderators, and the ban that took place. And, yes, frankly I do suspect there's more to it than just one man's isolated decision. But I do not KNOW that, and I probably never will. I suspect, but I cannot accuse. Better to just move on, and hope that eventually old PSF content becomes recoverable.
What assurance do people have that this new forum will be protected in the future?
