Double it up with SIP and those extra tracks from the period and you can have most of the crap in one package - with the six or so decent tracks. Put it on your CD player and drive the neighbours wild.

Believe me, I am searching my photos high and low, but I have a photo of a Japanese promo for their version of Still Crusin', and I will post the photo when I find it. But I did create a text file of the track listing. This would have been a better collection (or at least bigger). All of the old tracks are mono (heck, they probably lifted them from MADE IN USA).
The Beach Boys Still Crusin' Japanese Promo CD album (CDLP) 1. Still Cruisin' 2. Somewhere Near Japan 3. Island Girl 4. In My Car 5. Kokomo 6. Wipe Out 7. Make It Big 8. I Get Around 9. Wouldn't It Be Nice 10. California Girls 11. Surfin' Safari 12. Surfin' U.S.A. 13. Surfer Girl 14. Dance, Dance, Dance 15. Fun, Fun, Fun 16. Don't Worry Baby 17. Good Vibrations 18. Heroes And Villains 19. God Only Knows 20. Caroline, No

You can file this under "not urgent or necessary" but I wonder if we'll ever get a compilation that includes these tracks as well as some of their other long dormant songs they released in the 80's. Replace the "oldies" included here with "Chasin' The Sky", "Happy Endings", "Problem Child", "Rock & Roll To The Rescue" and whatever else they did and you'll have a decent overview from that era. I know none of this music is as remarkable as their previous material from the 60's and 70's, but at least some of it ("Somewhere Near Japan") deserves to be remastered and revisited and it would be nice to have this content accessible even if just for completionist's sake. I behind you in nearly all cases. But let's leave "Happy Endings" as an exclusive for the Japanese CD release. Happy Endings has some wonderful harmonies, some wonderful Beach Boys vocals, but the song? Meh. And Little Richard oversings the hell out of it.

I could never find the scan I had (I remember it was from ebay back around 2008 when someone wanted $100 USD for the cd). Seeing your high res scan so I can tell what tracks are in mono, it really is a lift from MADE IN USA. Same mixes on the extra tracks (meaning mono not stereo) as they were on MADE IN USA. And yes, they used the same stupid mix of WIBN as on MADE IN USA and every other release. What was wrong with these people? Pull the master for SUNSHINE DREAM and dub it from there.

Yeah "Happy Endings" is nothing special but it shouldn't be omitted based on personal preference. And at the end of the day it's a duet with a rock and roll pioneer.

Still, in my view "Happy Endings" is to The Beach Boys and to Little Richard what "My Ding-A-Ling" is to Chuck Berry.

Iffn you think the song's bad, don't watch the movie... I think it went direct from the studio to the bargain bin.

The only thing I love about 'Happy Endings', is the sleeve that came with the 45. Proud owner of a copy in Mint condition.

Oh boy, I'm being pulled back in again! I just have to post a review of this album, because it is such a challenge to nail down. I sincerely want to like it--to even love it--but it goes wrong in so many ways. It could have been a strong album with a little more ambitious planning, but ultimately it's a missed opportunity in many areas.
First off, the cover is really good. It compliments the title STILL CRUISIN' very effectively, and it's fairly pleasing to the eye (says this classic car guy!). As some of you might remember, I'm not a big fan of most of the BB's album covers after HOLLAND.
I believe I've stated before that I think Kokomo is a great song. It was everywhere at the time. It got a great launch, being featured in the movie Cocktail, and then it grew legs and went to #1 on the airwaves. My only beef with it is that I got a little burned out on it from hearing it so much. Today it sounds just a little dated with the heavy echo, gated drums, and 1980s sax wailing. Still a terrific song, even though it has been tarnished with the "Where's Brian?" controversy among fans.
I really like the song Still Cruisin' and I think it's an excellent follow up to Kokomo. I think it should have been another smash hit, but it doesn't seem to have gotten the hype it needed. I first heard it in the background of one scene in the second Lethal Weapon movie. It did get some airplay and then disappeared. It's a catchy song, although just a little repetitious, but isn't that what makes a good hook? The intensifying bridge after the chorus (Carl, correct?) really takes it home.
I'm going to skip through the rest of the songs, because while they're pretty decent in their own right, they are not particularly memorable to me. I regard them as well made album filler tracks, but in a good way, if that makes any sense.
Then there's the WTF last portion of the lineup. When I first considered buying the album on release, I thought What's new about those classic tracks? Maybe they are mixed in stereo for the first time? At that time, I could have gotten excited over that...but it was not to be, at least for a few more years. Why would they put tracks on a new BBs album that are already on a bizillion compilations? As has been discussed many times over, there was other newer material they could have put on the album. Head scratcher for sure!
So I give this a 4, which is as high as it is based on the very good hits and listenable newer material, but low as it is because of the shortchanging in the latter portion.

Yeah in all honesty, 𝑆𝑡𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝐶𝑟𝑢𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑛' is an alright album in its own right if you happen to like late-80's cheese whiz pop. I don't really mind most of the songs off of there. It's just that this is a far cry from the music they were doing up until the early 70's. The man who helmed one of the most beloved albums of all time is now rappin' with the Fat Boys. 🤦 And they should have left the oldies off the album and replaced them with the other songs they had recorded around that time.
