It’s about time is fine, but if I had to get rid of one of these, it would be that one. Again, great track, but it’s the lesser of all of these.

Got to quicken my pace. Barely got my vote in on time, but I did.
This is so easier. My least favorite song on the album: "Add Some
Music to Your Day". Working in the music section of a department
store when it came out, I put the single out front. Didn't sell well.
I bought one, but that didn't put it in the Top 10. I think the lyrics
hold the song back. The backing track is beautiful and happy.

My soft spot for "Deirdre" comes from the fact that I rewrote the lyrics years ago for my long-term pen pal who passed last year. It's too personal and full of in-jokes to post here so you can all relax. But it did mean I became thoroughly acquainted with all its musical and lyrical ins and outs, including that quaint hiccup in the "instrumental break" with its extra beat...

It's arriverderci Add Some Music. For me, it's lame to the point of requiring a vet to put it out of its misery before it even gets to the bridge (which is the best bit and actually rather nifty). They had at least two goes at trying to get the words right but eventually ended up with a happy-clappy, hippy-dippy assortment of platitudes and non-rhymes. Pairing 'soul' with 'stone'..really? What's wrong with "There's blues, folk and country, and jazz, funk and rock 'n' roll"? Took me all of 30 seconds (and probably sounds like it too ).
And if anything I think it suffers from being a bit too democratic; different band members trading lines might have sounded good on paper but to me they seem to be treating it like a read-through from the lyric sheet when it gets to be their turn, and as a result there's a loss of tension and emotion in the performance. Not really surprised that Will couldn't shift any copies, this was never an enlightened choice for a single.

And so to a spirited defence of Deirdre.
She has a killer track, an ebullient arrangement, Brian's on fire on bvs (cheers Al), she's feisty as befits a red head, probably wears huge glasses and is drop-dead gorgeous to boot. The words are grown-up, sincere, and seem to have a foundation in Bruce's life story. But I suspect that because it's Bruce some people might be inclined to vote off the singer rather than the song, which would be a travesty. And just look at her, the UK's very own and much loved Deirdre, fingers crossed and pleading with all you peeps to keep her in the race for just a bit longer. Voting her off now would be like punching a koala in the face .
He supposedly named the song after his ex-girlfriend's sister, which could be construed as a whiff of creepiness, but Brian would smash that one right out of the park and take it to a new level a few years later with My Diane. I'm wondering if this could be the girlfriend, whilst always being prepared for one of our resident historians to put me right:

It's About Time.
Same anti-war/pro-peace (post Give Peace a Chance) genre as STD, but, Student Demonstration Time-just feels angrier (it was an angry time on college campuses in the US) and far more timely and more authentic, despite it being a remake of Cell Block. They were absolutely on the right track with this, but, among the remaining tracks, feels weaker.

Again, it's not that I don't like Deidre. I just like it the least out of these five songs.

For some reason, I thought it was about a 6 year old visiting her father on "his" weekend, post marriage disolution.

I don't get it.
Dierdre goes because it's one of the 3 biggest wimpy songs on this "Rock/Pop" album.

"Deidre" is comparatively wimpy. "Add Some Music..." hits harder with the mystique of Joe Knott.

I don’t know, I guess I don’t mind wimpy. I don’t really listen to the Beach boys for any amount of toughness or macho points, so I love all the lovi-dovi stuff

IT'S ABOUT TIME to go! The Tribe has spoken.
Gee, I thought Deirdre was a cert for the cull, but that's the name of the game.
Really enjoyable round, and thanks to everyone for chipping in - there's always something new to learn or see in this beautiful music!
Deirdre did pull in 2nd, so she better watch out for trouble (but it won't be that bad). Add Some had some removed, but was well out of the running.
Round Four is imminent, don't spend too long in the can!

Howdy, howdy, howdy and welcome to BB Survivor: Sunflower, Heat 4 of the second contest in our series of BB Label Debut Album Survivor.
The list of the fallen is thus far:
Got To Know the Woman (too late for that, buddy) Tears In The Morning (and pretty much any other time of the day given the results of Heat 2) It's About Time (Nah nah nah!)
Let's get to it as we pick off the remaining tracks in Tribe Side B.
I'm going with Our Sweet Love, again, it showed some promise but was spent by the end of the second line. I jest but it is actually one of my least listened to of this album, and I'm surprised it made it too the Summer Love Songs comp from some 12 years ago (although we all know the real intent of that comp was to get the new stereo mixes of DWB and Fools (with extended intro) out there post the discovery of the original multis).
Go!!!
And don't forget to look for the hidden immunity idol hidden somewhere on the forum.

Preventing changing votes to "save" a track.

Phew. The lady lives on. But probably only until Monday.
I could no more vote off Our Sweet Love than yank out me own teeth. Similar to the sentiments expressed by someone else here, it's stitched into the fabric of the thirty nine glorious years that I had with the love of my life. Of the remaining songs, the one I listen to least is also arguably the most accomplished. It's probably tantamount to sacrilege, given that it's the subject of our study videos, and it is undoubtedly a staggering achievement and I love it, but if that's the criteria we're using then that's where my vote is going.

"Cool, Cool Water"
The third section is a tad too long for my taste.
