This was posted to another site but I thought it would be interesting to have this discussion here, with all the in-depth knowledge on this board: What footage of the Beach Boys would you love to see? The original question was more of a fantasy 'what-if' list, but I would pose this question here as what footage that you know/suspect is extant do you hope turns up one day?

I would love a full pro shot concert from around 1973, but I doubt there's one in existence unless it's hidden deep in the vaults away from those bootleggers.
Also, more realistic, a pro shot full concert from the 2012 reunion tour.

I'm far more interested in studio stuff than live stuff, so from the audio perspective, more finished or nearly finished studio recordings.
But since you said "footage," and so we're talking video, I'd say studio footage such as the late 70s footage, I guess? (Was it KTSA footage, or MIU? Whatever it was. The stuff from which "Mike Come Back to LA" came. That would be cool. I would like to see some good 2012 and early 70s stuff, too. Actually any good quality full shows would be nice. (I do enjoy watching concert footage, but not so much just listening. It inevitably suffers.)

Yes, not necessarily live concert footage but also studio, interviews or other films.
I'd love to see more of the recordings of the late 60s records (plus Sunflower). There's that one "I Can Hear Music" montage but it's sadly lacking in Brian. I'd like to see more of what was shot in Hawaii in 1967, as well.

BW 70s interviews are always great, too: the more of those out there, the better.

Anything 70's, especially early to mid-70's, where video is not as ubiquitous. Sound board 70's concerts are always welcome. Hopefully the upcoming extended license releases will have some good 70's concert audio included.

Ok, here is my list that I would like to see;
- some of the Dennis' private video camera used on Endless Harmony / An American Band doc; - the full Inside Pop footage; - Some Caribou Ranch recording sessions; - Some studio sessions / demos of Brian/Dennis in the early 80s.

I wonder if anyone filmed those 1970 shows at the Whiskey and in (I think) Seattle where Brian sat in. That would be interesting to see.

I would love to one day see the David Frost Show footage. Seeing that show was very important important to me at the time. I had plans to watch it, but something came up - it must have been pressing, otherwise I wouldn't have missed it. I asked my brother to record it to audio cassette. I still have the tape. I did get to see them a few months later at Winterland, SF. That was a mind blower.

I think that because the BBs toured so much more then the Beatles their shows were not special events (example almost every Beatles u.s. concert was preceded by a filmed press conference whereas very few events took place with the BBs). Also the BBs were simply not the cultural phenomenon that the Beatles were and didn’t attract as much attention

When the BBs appeared at the whiskey in 1970 they were at an all time low commercially so I don’t think anyone particularly cared about filming them at that time. Other then a few articles in the Los Angeles press it was a non-event.

I agree that would be the coolest. I'd also like to see their full appearance on the Les Crane TV show in 1968-they talked at length about meditation. The all time list must also include-the proto-BBs with Al singing Surfin on Dance Party with Bob Eubanks on December 30 1961!!!! And don't forget the famous local app recounted by Dominic Priore where Brian went on a TV show to introduce Good Vibrations to the studio audience. Unfortunately chances are slim to nil that any local TV appearances were saved. However, I do wonder if the interview footage seen in this clip comes from Les Crane?

I worked for a small video production company/studio based in Santa Monica from 1978 to 1980. I vividly remember seeing a 2" Quad video master reel in their library that was for a Kenny Rogers TV show, it had a 1971 date on it, as I recall. One of the guests listed on the spine of the reel case was The Beach Boys. I hoped and hoped that one day one of the house engineers would put it on a machine so I could view it. I never got up the nerve to ask. Has anyone here ever seen that show? Maybe it was Kenny's 'Rollin' On The River show. Don't know.
I just checked youtube. There is a '71 Kenny Rogers/First Edition TV clip of them performing Beach Boys songs. Maybe that's what the tape was referring to. Oh, well.

These are all known to actually exist, or at least TO have actually existed at one time:
- Gran Gala du Disque (1972) - The full Central Park, 1971 show - The full Crystal Palace Bowl, 1972 show - Mike taking off his clothes on the live local L.A. talk show (1970) - The full Melbourne, Australia show of which about a third is currently in circulation (1978) - The full Costa Mesa show seen briefly in American Band, and which was the last show with all six (1983)

I was told several years ago that a lot of 16mm footage of Dennis from the 1970's exists, from the owner of said films.

The Beachago concerts Yes! Most definitely! The '75 version would be my preference, but the '89 version wouldn't be too shabby either!

There are a few Beachago clips strewn around here and there, but nothing complete obviously.
Boy, I miss me some Terry Kath...
