I know not everyone was a fan, but to me he was integral. 50th anniversary especially would not have been the same without him, not to mention his role in Brian's solo tours.

My every morning starts with Jeff's intro from C50 on YouTube and has for years. Now it's a fond remembrance of Jeff's voice. Thanks for that on Jeff's birthday. Usually this one from Sydney...

I just love the way Jeff introduced the band during 50th Anniversary!

I just love the way Jeff introduced the band during 50th Anniversary! Me too! Just wish Carl and Dennis were around to be included in his introduction. Like an announcer introducing a prize fighter in the ring: "Briiiiiiaaaaaan Wilsooooooon". Jeff Foskett - "The CEO of Falsetto"

I remember when I saw the guys at B.B. King's in November 2000, Jeff was doing the band intros -- and totally forgot to introduce himself!
At that venue, the shows were split up into individual shows instead of one with two sets (you had to buy separate admission for the second set). I remember when Jeff was doing the band intros during the second set, I'm pretty sure it was Susan Lang who yelled "DON'T FORGET YOURSELF, JEFF!"

Jeff was an incredible talent and an invaluable contributor to That's Why God Made the Radio as well as many other Brian projects.
He always sounded distinctly like himself, but during his break on "Isn't It Time," for just a moment it's like Carl never left us. Gives me goosebumps. God bless Jeff.

Susan Lang organized several New England area fan conventions in the 2000s.

Yeah I always felt his voice was better suited handling Carl's parts rather than Brian's. His voice had a timbre quite similar to Carl's. He still did a more than capable job though handling those high parts through the years.

I'm not as up on the post-'70s lore as it seems most posters here are, but was there a time when Jeff and Matt Jardine were both in the band at the same time? I'm not saying Matt is a substitute for Brian but his falsetto is a bit closer in tone quality to Brian's whereas, as noted, Jeff's could be uncannily close to Carl's.

I was first made aware of Jeffrey when the Beach Boys played in the Kingdome, May 1983. In addition to playing guitar, he did the lead vocal on The Warmth of the Sun. I was like, "who is that guy?" At first I thought it might be Ed Carter. Then I saw a close up of him on one of the television screens. Nope, not Ed. From that point on, I was a Foskett fan.

... was there a time when Jeff and Matt Jardine were both in the band at the same time? There was a brief overlap in 1990, and maybe a little earlier when Matt was working with the crew and then moved up to percussion. I saw them perform together in May 1990 in Atlanta. Mike Love was absent, so Jeff and Al doubled up to sing Mike's leads, while Matt handled the falsetto parts. Gerry Beckley was there too, so they did "Sister Goldenhair." Gerry sang some of Al's harmony parts, while Al was singing lead. Carl and Bruce did their usual parts and leads.

Does anyone know why he was fired in the early 90s?

Does anyone know why he was fired in the early 90s? Yes, as he himself said in later years, the band's wives were getting increasingly uneasy at him turning up to shows with a different woman (and not his then-wife) on a regular basis and Carl asked him to leave: he credited Carl with saving his marriage. Jeff also denied a rumour that he was fired for abusing the corporate Amex card.

I believe he was hittin' the booze and the 'rock n roll' lifestyle pretty hard too. Guess the guys figured there's enough 'rock stars' in this group and we don't need another. Anyway, it worked out for the best and Jeff cleaned his act up.

Here's a good video of the band performing "Don't Worry Baby" from (I presume) the late 80's or early 90's where Carl and Jeff take turns with the lead vocals. The amusing aspect of this video is that the camera crew were clearly unprepared for the lead vocal trade-off and it took them a minute to figure out Jeff took over the lead near the chorus. Carl in particular *nails* the verses.

Jeff Foskett never drank a drop a day in his life. He was anti-alcohol. While he did have a problem with womanizing he was not drinking.
