Was wondering if there were any tracks on this set that, 30+ years later, have never appeared on any subsequent compilation? I'm guessing not very many, if any, but this question came into my mind recently and figured there's probably at least a couple people on this forum who could provide an answer. As always, thanks in advance.

This is just a quick cursory list. Yes some of these have appeared elsewhere, but some are the original mixes and not remixes.

It was a terrific set that nicely complemented the 2fers that Capitol had released.

I still love it to this day. Probably the best comp up to that point in 1993. Essential, not only from an average fan's standpoint, but a collector's and completist standpoint. Lotsa rarities on that one; some stuff that was bootlegged prior and some that had not seen the light of day before. Both hits and album cuts. And the packaging with the booklet is, as I said, essential for both average and hardcore fans.

I like the sound of this set vs the harshness of later issues. This was also a great collection of mono tracks. Several were not available until this release.
On later boxes I have one copy only. I have three of these. I use to keep a whole set in my car at all times. That would always keep me covered. Still my favorite collection of all times. Also brought me back into the Beach Boys collectors world. Met Bob Hanes because of this release.

To me, the version of This Whole World on the 1993 box, sounds better/more dynamic than any other released version.

The versions / mixes that I prefer on this set are: The Little Girl I Once Knew San Miguel (1993 Mix) Games Two Can Play (1993 Mix) I Just Got My Pay H.E.L.P Is On The Way (1993 Mix) 4th Of July (1993 Mix) Cabinessence (Track Only) Surf’s Up (Track Only)
Not necessarily all that unique, but just great sounding. Definitely worthwhile. Enjoy!

The Little Girl I Once Knew doesn't have the clicks after the first verse as the 2fer does. What is interesting is that TLGIOK has those clicks on the 2001 remasters.

San Miguel and I Just Got My Pay are the original mixes, Games and HELP are 1977 mixes from the Adult/Child reel. 4th of July is a vintage mix iirc because Carl's lead was removed not long after.

To this day, despite all the releases we've had since, I'm still a massive fan of this boxset.
It is one of the best places to hear the 60's and 70's material in (mostly) their original mixes, with lots of effort put into making the mastering as transparent as possible. It is perhaps the definitive place to hear Brian Wilson's production genius, because so many of their compilations released since feature nearly all digital remixes.
When I compare the fidelity of GV'93 to MIC or FF, I'm amazed by the warmth and texture found on the original mixes, that have been so digitally altered by the recent remixes we've gotten. Look, I love hearing remixes as much as anybody, I want them to continue making them, but at the same time, it's essential to have proper compilations/sets that feature the original mixes.
I also really love the sequencing of the tracks on GV. I've only ever had two complaints.
1. I wish the Holland songs didn't come before the So Tough songs.
2. I wish more of the band's 80's and 90's material. If possible, I'd have included "Keepin The Summer Alive", "Endless Harmony", "Still Cruisin", "Somewhere Near Japan", "Hot Fun In The Summertime", and "Summer In Paradise" (off the top of my head) to round out that era. I always thought it was a little deceiving to reduce that era down to "Goin On", "Getcha Back", and "Kokomo".
Nonetheless, this is still one of my very favorite collections of all time. I often ponder about that "desert island album" idea, and if I was ever in that position, I think there's a good chance GV'93 would be my "desert island album". It flows so well and encapsulates the band's career to this point quite well, even if it's a little light on latter day material.
It was very mind blowing to discover stuff like Still I Dream Of It and Games Two Can Play on this set, before they started showing up elsewhere. I remember very early in my BBs fandom, staying up on school nights to listen to this set front to back. It felt like going on the journey with America's Band. The innocence of the early days, the substance induced haze of the psychedelic era, the collaborative nature of the 'democratic' years, and the return to the spotlight with those 80's hits. Really a moving listen.
I'd say the vast majority of my airplane flights of the last decade have been spent listening to this album. It's so important and so special to me. I was devastated to see it disappear from streaming services. But luckily I had the files backed up on my Apple Music, and have the CD boxset, so I can still enjoy it.
I'd also like to add, the book that came with the set is outta sight. David did a very nice job on that. I was particularly fascinated by part of the book that discusses the effort put into doing the mastering in a faithful way.

I have been re-reading interviews with Mark and David regarding the assembly of this set. They went through hell getting it together along with Andy Paley. Capitol originally gave them a 5 CD set, then cut it back to 4. They we able to get a 5th CD added because the sessions CD had the same songs as the rest of the set so the publishing was already paid. Then the UK wanted titles like THEN I KISSED HER added because they were hits I the EU. Tracks were dropped to make room for the EU hits, then the EU went and added their own 6th CD.
One track dropped on the second CD to make room for THEN I KISSED HER was THE OLD MASTER PAINTER/YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE. I would have dropped the cut PET SOUNDS to keep OMP/YAMS.

Brian personally vetoed the proposed inclusion of "Let Him Run Wild" because he didn't like his vocal... and David told me they never considered including "Fire" because they thought if he saw that he'd say no to any Smile music at all.

I agree - or a couple of the other Pet Sounds cuts which tally the most from a previously released album (7 tracks + the Ego Bonus). Given the CD had been issued 3 or so years prior, and the 4 biggies (Wouldn’t, Sloop, God, Caroline) were staples on comps-a-million, I’da dropped a track or two in a heartbeat for OMP. Unless it was to make peace for the no-noise thing on the first PS CD.

Folks don't forget Paul Williams' ecstatic review of GV30, "I Believe You Anyway", seventeen or so pages of which can (hopefully) be read here. For the complete review you are referred to Paul's book How Deep Is The Ocean?, which is full of fascinating insights, essays and conversations.

What was really interesting to me was after the 2-fers and especially after the GV box, the overseas markets now had digital masters for many tracks, several in mono that they didn't have before. Suddenly, there was an onslaught of Greatest Hits packages and other collections, especially in Japan. They put out a singles collection boxset in 1993 that is still one of my faves. It has some mono tracks not available elsewhere. And just to be a little weird, one of my favorite hits CD is THE DUTCH SINGLES collection. It has great sound quality and since different 70's tracks were hits over there, it makes for a different listening experience. They pulled the tracks from the 93 box but also had some not on there. Pick it up if you find it cheap.
