There’s an opened a 6CD set on ebay U.K., with a dink in the packaging, with bidding already at £74 (started at £9.99) with 5 days remaining to go.
If you’re one of those bidding, please – you’re undermining my war of attrition! 😬

By way of example of the kind of price drop I’m thinking, wishing, hoping and praying for, Amazon UK has just dropped the price of The Beatles Let It Be super deluxe CD set (5CDs & 1 Blu-ray) to £48.90… it had been £109.99 on release.

“Ach, don’t put any effort into thinking about it, just jumble the digits up a bit.”
“Sail On Sailor 1972 has decreased from £117.33 to £113.70”

I'm following along John.... I'm still waiting to find the price I like too.... We need one of these retailers to make a mistake and drop a digit on the the dollar side of the equation, closest to the left if possible.

We need one of these retailers to make a mistake and drop a digit on the the dollar side of the equation, closest to the left if possible. That happened to me (not Amazon though)! Coulda had the box for about £10.80 but they spotted it after I’d placed the order and cancelled the sale. Edit: the price was £9.98 with free shipping!

As bad as prices are now for these box sets and vinyl in general, I still think it's nothing compared to concert prices. When I started going to concerts in the early 80's, shows generally were in the $10-$15 range. I paid $12 to see the Kinks in 1983; their new album cost me something like $7. Saw the Beach Boys the same year for $10; I'm sure my copies of Youngblood and Beach Boys Rarities were around $7. Now new vinyl can cost up to $40, although the average price seems to be around $25-$30. Concerts, though, I don't see anything under $50 - and those are the cheap seats! If you want good seats, it's more like $80 at the low end. Really discouraging for someone on a low budget (what did you say?). I think I am getting to the point where my concert going days are behind me. It's true, I have some great concert memories; but with a a cd or vinyl, it's not just memories; it's something I will have for the rest of my life, to return to for enjoyment whenever I want to. I was happy with the two cd versions of Feel Flows and Sail on Sailor; I was fine with paying $17 and $25 for them.

I think concert prices started to soar when they became a corporate shmooz thing - companies gifting tickets to clients, and credit card companies getting in on pre-sales and the like. Once that white collar wallowing-in-success thing became a thing, ticket prices were irrelevant as a success company could buy in bulk and offset the expenditure against tax, as promotional activity. So gig venues started to fill up with brash business execs letting their hair down, getting pissed, pressing palms and not having a clue what the bands were about… but at least they had bragging rights when they could say “Yah, I saw the Rolling Stones last night as part of our corporate output related bonus, yah, they played all the hits like Blue Sugar, and Keith Townshend was so cool with his big rubbery lips!”
Neil Young nailed it with This Note’s For You.

Yeah, it's bleeped up. Pretty much ruined the concert going experience for me. Oh well, everything is on You Tube now. I can just plug my laptop into my 52 inch digital tv and watch concert videos while getting wasted on chocolate milk.

Amazon Prime Days for 2023 will take place this year on July 11 and 12. These Prime Days feature sales on all kinds of items.
I have no inside knowledge, but perhaps a “lightning deal” on this box set might happen.
Stay vigilant.

Do we recall how long after Feel Flows came out that it significantly reduced in price? Thanks again for your continued vigilance John 🙏 According to camelcamelcamel, it was around £80 on release around July 2021, rose almost immediately to its high point £86.99, then slowly slithered and hiccoughed its way down to its lowest price on £48 in October 2022. Currently at around £69.

I've never seen/heard the word used verbally or in writing before. Thank you, Mr. Manning - I learn something every day here. And now back to our regularly scheduled thread.......
