1 for 2 - I guessed the board, but not the poster.

Is it not possible for some people to hold different opinions? Because, at the end of the day, that's all it is. Nothing more. This pretty much sums up why I felt inclined to leave that place. Always felt like there was a mod peering over everyone’s shoulder, waiting to pounce on them for typing something that disagreed with their mantra, or that somehow fecked with their formula. In a better place now.

"On the forum where they pat themselves on the back daily for their supposed positivity and inclusion, Dae Lims is getting completely shellacked for his work there. Kinda blows my mind that a lot of people can't see the talent/time it takes to make these tracks - nor see anything remotely positive about it. Or see the imagination behind creating these harmonies, etc.. I mean I don't think that everyone has to like this stuff, and there have been tracks I haven't liked, but it's kinda crazy seeing the dogpile of hate." Kinda blows your mind does it? That's assuming an awful lot. Why does this guy have to be like this and then roll over and over in it, like a dog in another dog's shit? What is he? Five or something? So someone doesn't like this? But clearly some do, even, dare I say it, "On the forum where they pat themselves on the back daily for their supposed positivity and inclusion." Is it not possible for some people to hold different opinions? Because, at the end of the day, that's all it is. Nothing more. I think even someone like him can read this forum and see Dae Lims isn't getting completely 'shellacked.' Guess rubbing salt in an imagined wound is better than taking time out to actually read people's comments. Always "consider the source." Whatever discussion went on, there was never a personal attack. Because that is not how this place rolls or why it even exists. That is just a smear. Good luck with that. There was a concrete discussion, discussing the work, the legal status of that kind of emerging technology, and whether the use would be appropriate for this or other work. No doubt there is dedication, knowledge and talent. That was not the issue. AI is uncharted and unregulated territory, at least in the US until it is challenged under some existing statute or law. There is a clear line of demarcation, as between what the Beatles used with unfinished work that they owned and what a non-band member/owner did with someone else's work. Moreover, their opinion is of no consequence. (To me, anyway.)

Kinda blows my mind that a forum notionally devoted to The Beach Boys failed to so much as hint at the birthday of a founder member a short while ago in any of the six posts that day (or since).

Almost certainly not what it claims to be...
The poster is the same one who posted a whole bunch of Poco stuff claiming it to be BB outtakes. Also "Brian's" phrasing and timing sounds to me to be suspiciously similar to the "GOK" track on Sunshine Tomorrow 2. The timing's about the same too, give or take two seconds...

Um, no, this is real. It's long been on the bootleg circuit. The description is exactly what it is. Extraction tech is at a good enough level now that someone was able to pull out Brian's off-mic singing and give it a boost.

Correction gratefully received. DI would explain the odd artefact here and there.

I'm mostly on the fence with AI, but I like this one a lot! As long as the creator labels it as an AI version to differentiate it from the original, I'm good with it. Glad to see that you've rejoined us, Sockit!

Glad to see that you've rejoined us, Sockit! Thanks, Mikie! Good to be back! I agree it certainly doesn't change the status of the original, which will continue to be my go-to (and I hope everyone else's), but it does make a fun and interesting let's pretend for the moment. It was a well constructed offering, to be sure.

I would like to see someone attempt another AI version of the unfinished 'Sherry, She Needs Me'. I think the existing one could use some more work. Just found out a couple of weeks ago that the late Eric Carmen did a cover of Caroline No and it's very good. Also, I've always really liked Timothy Schmidt's version of the song.

It's alright. I think he's going a tad overboard with the harmonies though. Less is more. The Beach Boys did it right with their arrangement on the Timothy B. Schmidt version.

I really like what happens at 1:15. They should not put Brian and the BBs name on this. It is a sacrilege. Give me the most gravelly, but, authentic Brian Wilson. Computer vocals will never equal a cappella or accompanied BBs.

Computer vocals will never equal a cappella or accompanied BBs. This is one of Dae Lims's creations he put up around the time Melinda passed away. At least the uploader established that this was AI-produced and credited to Lims. There's some other person on YT putting up poorly made AI creations and calling it "The Beach Boys". The channel name is "FIVEFIVEONE" and they're quite disingenuously uploading fake Beach Boys "content" and passing it as lost "outtakes" and "demos". Not a fan.

It sort of is consistent with the way I feel about live performances - warts and all. I love them live, and know they are no more singing as a 20-something, than I am listening as a teen. (Yes - but, only in my head.) It is just reality. This is not to take from the skill required. Dae Lims is very skilled. But - it is all about authenticity, for me. ❤️
