To celebrate Mary Weiss' life, you can do no better than this joyous 45, spoken word moments and all: I appreciate your appreciation of Mary Weiss' contributions to American rock history. Unfortunately, it seems there aren't a whole lot of other fans of 60s girl-group pop on this forum.

Not much traffic ever on the other music topics here….. that’s ok….. hands down best place for BB talk. Dirk is a member on Hoffman so I’m sure he’s cool with directing you there. 6 pages in the RIP Mary thread. Some interesting stuff I’ve learned since yesterday. I use a different name and have been adding to the conversation.

It has been for years -- BBT largely consists of posters who used to be prolific in this corner of EH. And that's OK too. I used to post all over Hoffman but had to admit that two forums (this one and BBT) are enough. Wonderful that they're devoting so much cyberspace to Mary.

Well here's a blast from the past. Brainticket's "Places Of Light" comes from their 1971 debut album Cottonwoodhill. This is for the OP, who transcribed the spoken passages: "The world has many places of light where faces laugh in the sun's glow Take me on board your shimmering ship built of eternal tithe and icicle Dreams Fly to that hidden city nestling in yesterday Across the smokey mountain and along the flowing river "The land lies as a maiden left in repose Tread softly, walk on silent notes She will ask him nothing, and tell you all And you, without thinking will lose your soul "Your mind will ache to be carried off in her silver light Pain will fill your being as you devour the beauty that evades your control The sea will cover you wave upon rolling wave Destroying the bounties of the love that you wanted to share "And when you wake tomorrow she'll be gone And a new day as innocent as the next will appear on your horizon" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainticket

I don't know how this one got left off for so long (well I do in a way). This is the impassioned spoken tag to Barry Mann's 1961 US #7 "Who Put The Bomp": "Darling, bomp-a-buh-bomp, buh-bomp-a-bomp-bomp. And my honey, rama lama ding dong forever. And when I say dit, di-dit, di-dit, di-dit, you know I mean it from the bottom of my boogity, boogity, boogity shoo." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Put_the_Bomp_(in_the_Bomp,_Bomp,_Bomp)

It is a good one though.
